John Moyle Memorial Field Day is 18th 19th March 2023

 

Hi All,

Today we headed up to the South Dandalup Dam site to do the John Moyle field day.

 

The group consisted of Graham VK6 MG with Parg1, Jen VK6 JEN, Peter VK6 PBS, Martin VK6 MJ and myself VK6 LJC. Geoff VK6 HD and Jackie popped in for a while along with Roger Mcdonald VK3 VKI (a PARG new member)..

 

We set up Parg1 with a degree of discussion and commenced CQ’ing about 11 am. We had a small number of contacts on HF though VHF was limited. We experimented with the trapped dipole and squid pole with some success and with a long wire elevated up the Clarke mast.

 

We concluded that the site we picked was not suitable with too many trees and possibly because we were in a slight valley. That aside we had a good time and think the next outing with PARG1 will be on the Estuary or Preston Beach.

 

One thing needs to be highlighted…. Graham has done a fantastic job with PARG1 and he should be commended for the work he has put in. A big thanks goes out from all of us.
