JOTA 2018
Jamboree On The Air & Jamboree On The Internet (JOTA-JOTI) is the largest Scouting event in the world with over 1.8 million Scouts participating across 150+ countries. Scouts and Guides across the world connect with each other during JOTA-JOTI using the airwaves and the internet.
The event has been held on the third full weekend of October since 1957.
For weekend of 20th – 21st of October 2018 PARG once again provided a variety of amateur radio activities for Scouts in the Peel district.
The JOTA station centered around our newly built mobile communications trailer, PARG1.
The event has been increasing in popularity for several years and in 2018 the Peel station proved to be one of the most popular stations in VK6!
WA’s Chief Scout Commissioner – Barbara de la Hunty spent some time at the Rockingham Scout Hall checking out the station and she came away very impressed. The most popular base on the day was the Echolink station operating club call sign VK6ARG. Our Echolink station was linked via 2 metres simplex to the node of Martin VK6MJ approximately 24 km south, in Mandurah. Lengthy QSLs were had with other JOTA stations around the world, including the UK, USA and the Nederlands. Many PARG members enjoyed providing amateur radio communications for the Scouts, once again.
